The year is 2010

By Julie | January 17, 2010

Julie’s strength is beginning to return and she is trying to widen her food choices since the reversal surgery. There are still irritation and itchiness to deal with – not fun – but she is trying to rest and use pain remedies rather than always `pushing through it’ during this important period of healing. We go back to the surgeon for her follow-up appointment in two weeks. She still can’t lift Will until late February at the earliest, so is staying busy reading and watching DVDs of movies released in the last two years.

Mike is hanging in there as Super Dad, helping to keep the house in order and handle most of the childcare duties. He is already hard at work on the next computer chip – a spinoff of the one that rolls out later this year (fingers crossed).

Will continues to thrive at school. The daily reports have him leaping off slides, doing the Freeze Dance like a maniac and holding hands with friends (too sweet, right?). He’s opening up to the teachers more and greets the myriad of helpers in our home with a loud “HELLO” that sounds like a drag queen when they ring the bell. Words seem to tumble out of him and he can speak in short sentences. Next stage: NY Times crossword puzzle.

Ready for school with his red Cars lunchbag.

A haircut was also in order. He sat pretty still at Julie’s salon for a trim.
