2-year development update

By Julie | March 10, 2010

William is adjusting well to recent transitions in his young life. Julie continues struggling with her health even after the surgeries and isn’t able to care for Will alone during the day yet. The Goddard School was wonderful for him, but we needed to reduce costs so he is now at in-home daycare.

He’s made some fast friends there and really warmed up to his new care provider. This looks like a good solution for at least another month while Julie tries different meds and undergoes some testing to figure out what is wrong and how to improve her daily life.

The 2-year pediatrician’s visit was an adventure. Our sweet little boy became a crying terror for the nurse, which we were told is quite typical at this appointment. He is growing well and has caught up to the 75th percentile for weight and still at 90th percentile for height. He’s already into 3T pants!

Here is a happy Will at his party in the park with two other friends who were turning 3.

William’s language skills are right on point with many two and three-word phrases. He can repeat most words perfectly and he observes so much. Will now narrates everything that is going on around him which is quite endearing.

School buses and potties are his latest obsessions.

This brave soul is in Day 3 of giving up his pacifier. He had started requesting it for comfort as soon as he got home from school over the last few weeks. The doctor noticed his teeth were starting to show signs from all the sucking so it was time to say “bye-bye binki”. A blue blanky he’s had since birth is the leading contender for the new lovey, but there are also Elmo, multi-colored monkey and blue birthday bear stuffed animals at the ready. It takes a bit longer for him to fall asleep at night but he’s adjusting pretty darn well.

Mr. Cool. “Hey, I don’t need no stinkin’ binki!”
